SIKAP provides technical, financial and material assistance to rural and urban poor families in BIDANI villages in the province of Laguna, Philippines.

SIKAP is an acronym that stands for “Sipag, Ipon at Kaalaman Aming Puhunan sa Kaunralan (Industriousness, Savings, Skills, our Investment to Progress)”. BIDANI stands for “Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement”. These concepts are important elements and ingredients in the success of the micro-finance program of SIKAP BIDANI, which is headed by a Board of Trustees, and managed by competent officers and staff of the foundation.

SIKAP BIDANI uses the modified Grameen Bank Approach (GBA) as espoused by Dr. Muhammad Yunus of the Economics Department, Chittagong University, Bangladesh. Through this approach, SIKAP BIDANI provides loans to women without passing through the rigid requirements of a traditional lending agency like the banks.
